“The Boys” star Jack Quaid will star in FilmNation Entertainment’s action thriller “Novocaine” being penned by Lars Jacobson and directed by Dan Berk & Robert Olsen (“Villains”).
The project is set to be introduced at the upcoming American Film Market and aims to begin production in the first quarter next year with a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement in place.
Quaid will play Nathan Caine, a man born with the rare disorder CIPA (Congenital Insensitivity to Pain) which means he can’t feel physical pain.
Caine grew up a sheltered child, learning to blend food so he would not unwittingly chew off his own tongue and to wear a timer to remind himself when to go to the bathroom.
When the bank he works at is robbed and his new love taken hostage, his affliction becomes his greatest strength as he sets out to rescue her.
Drew Simon, Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Matt Schwartz, Josh Adler and Julian Rosenberg produce. Quaid was most recently seen in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” and heard in the currently airing fourth season of animated comedy “Star Trek: Lower Decks”.
