The Jennifer Lopez-Jharrel Jerome wrestling drama “Unstoppable” has halted production and the project isn’t expected to resume until after the writer’s strike is over.
Picketers forced the project to shut down on Wednesday when it was lensing at USC in Los Angeles. Filming had been going on for the past two weeks.
“Moonlight” star Jerome plays Anthony Robles, a three-time All-American wrestler born with one leg who prevailed in a national championship at Arizona State.
Oscar-winning editor Billy Goldenberg (“Argo”) is making his feature directorial debut on the project which Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity is financing as their second feature following this year’s Nike shoe drama “Air”.
The project now joins several other film productions that have hit pause due to the strike including the Aziz Ansari-directed, Keanu Reeves-Seth Rogen feature “Good Fortune”; the Amanda Seyfried-led “My Ex-Friend’s Wedding”; and Marvel Studios films “Blade” and “Thunderbolts” among various others.
Jerome will shortly be seen as a 13-foot man in Boots Riley’s quirky new series “I’m a Virgo”. Lopez was most recently seen in Netflix’s action thriller feature “The Mother”.
