J-Lo, Jerome Join Affleck In “Unstoppable”

Sony Pictures

Jennifer Lopez and “Moonlight” actor Jharrel Jerome are set to star in the new sports drama “Unstoppable” which Lopez’s husband Ben Affleck is on board to produce through his Artists Equity production company.

The true story tale follows Anthony Robles, a three-time All-American wrestler born with one leg who won a national championship at Arizona State University.

Additional casting has yet to be announced, but Robles will be heavily involved in the film which Amazon Studios is in talks to acquire.

The project marks an onscreen reunion of ‘Bennifer’ a full twenty years after “Gigli” was released into infamy.

Billy Goldenberg has been Affleck’s go-to editor for a decade on films like “Argo” and “Live By Night”. He is set to make his directorial debut on this project, the second feature of Artists Equity which Affleck started with his long-time screen collaborator Matt Damon.

The first feature from the company is the Affleck-directed “Air,” which details the true story of Nike’s relationship with Michael Jordan. That film, which stars Damon and Affleck alongside the likes of Viola Davis and Jason Bateman, premieres tonight at SXSW and releases theatrically on April 5th.

“Unstoppable” currently doesn’t have an announced production schedule or release date.
