“Sleight” and “Sweetheart” director J.D. Dillard and “Luke Cage” writer Matt Owens have both reportedly been tapped to develop a new “Star Wars” project.
However it’s reportedly undecided whether the project will be a film for the big screen or some sort of streaming platform release for Disney+. Plot details, character details and setting are unknown, as is the question of Dillard directing should the project move forward.
The project is said to be separate from both “Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson and Marvel chief Kevin Feige’s new films proposed for the franchise.
The next theatrical film remains on the release calendar for December 16th 2022 and it’s expected we’ll hear more about Disney’s plans for the franchise next month at the London-set event on March 5th that will preview Disney+ coming to Europe.
