“IT: Welcome to Derry” S2 In Development

HBO

HBO hasn’t yet announced a renewal order for “IT: Welcome to Derry,” but a second season is already in development.

THR has done an article in which co-creator Andy Muschietti is named and says the show’s muscular success means he’s in demand right now.

Of ‘Derry’, they say: “A second season is now in the works, even if it has not been officially renewed.” The initial season launched last year to quite good reviews and was noted for being darker than the films.

The first season, set in 1962, was a major success and was HBO Max’s third most-watched debut in the platform’s history.

The second season is expected to take place in 1935 while a proposed third season would be set in 1908. Bill Skarsgård would likely be the only returning cast member from the first season.

Muschietti developed the series alongside Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. Fuchs serves as co-showrunner with Brad Caleb Kane (“Crystal Lake”).
