Isaacs, Sedgwick, Middleditch Join Pilots

A bunch of upcoming series have set major roles starting with CBS family medical drama “Good Sam” which has set Jason Isaacs as the male lead opposite Sophia Bush in the Katie Wech produced project.

Bush plays Sam, a talented yet stifled heart surgeon who embraces her leadership role after her renowned and pompous boss, Dr. Paul ‘Griff’ Griffith (Isaacs), falls into a coma. When he awakens and wants to resume surgery, however, it falls to her to supervise this overbearing blowhard who never acknowledged her talents – and also happens to be her father.

Next up, “The Closer” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Kyra Sedgwick has closed a deal to star in the pilot for the multi-camera sitcom “My Village” at ABC. Kari Lizer (“New Adventures of Old Christine”) executive produces.

The series centers on an empty-nester mom (Sedgwick) who wonders how she ended up alone while her children live their best lives thousands of miles away. She decides her place is with her family and, as she reinserts herself into their lives.

Next, “Silicon Valley” actor Thomas Middleditch has scored the lead in CBS’ comedy “B Positive” which hails from producer Chuck Lorre and Marco Pennette (“Mom”) and also stars Annaleigh Ashford, Kether Donohue and Sara Rue.

Middleditch plays Drew, a recently divorced father who’s in need of a kidney donor. At the end of his rope, Drew runs into Gina (Ashford), a rough-around-the-edges woman from his past, who offers her kidney. The two form an unlikely bond and begin a journey that will change both of their lives.

Finally, Tory Kittles (“Sons of Anarchy”) is set to co-star with Queen Latifah in the pilot for CBS’ re-imagining of “The Equalizer”. Kittles will play Detective Marcus Dante, a highly intelligent, soft-spoken yet powerful and shrewd NYPD detective, with a cultivated veneer. Lorraine Toussaint and Liza Lapira co-star.
