Actress Dominique Thorne is joining the cast of Ryan Coogler’s currently filming “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” for Marvel Studios reports ComicBook.com.

Thorne has already been set to play Riri Williams/Ironheart, the teenage engineering genius who designs her own version of an Iron Man suit, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

An “Ironheart” series in the works for the Disney+ service, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that Thorne will make her MCU debut in the ‘Panther’ sequel:

“We’re shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first. She started shooting, I think, this week before her Ironheart series.”

In the comics, Tony Stark reaches out to her and gives her his blessing to become a new armored hero. Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark is not expected to be a part of the character’s story in the MCU.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is set to hit cinemas on July 8th 2022.
