“Invincible” Creator Wants 7-8 Season Run

Amazon Prime Video

“Invincible” comic creator Robert Kirkman says he hopes Prime Video’s animated series adaptation of his comic will clock in at seven or eight seasons in order to fully adapt the property.

Based on an Image Comics book, the series follows Steve Yeun as Mark Grayson – a teenager whose father is the world’s most powerful superhero.

On his 17th birthday, Mark begins to develop powers of his own and realizes he needs help to contain his powers, while also reckoning with his Dad’s less-than-perfect legacy.

Ahead of the new season, which sees Omni-Man facing Viltrumite justice and Invincible taking on the role of Earth’s protector, Kirkman spoke with Polygon about his hopes for the show’s future:

“I’m trying not to pin it down to a number, because it is somewhat of a moving target. I think in the seven-to-eight-season range seems like it would be enough.

But there could be some things we move through a little faster, some things we expand. If we’re fortunate enough to go for a good long time, I think that would be enough to cover the entire comic.

And there are some things along the way that didn’t get into the comic that I’d like to do. I think it’d be cool to have some episodes here and there that are completely original. So that’s part of the plan moving forward.”

The show’s first season debuted back in 2021 and landed a quick renewal order. It has taken two years, but finally the second season is set to arrive on screens on November 3rd.

Kirkman executive produces alongside Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley.
