Informant Media has optioned late novelist William Diehl’s “Hooligans” including a script adaptation he penned before he died reports Variety.
The story follows a band of rogue cops who reassemble to settle an old score in a Southern coastal town that is changing as it legalizes gambling.
Judy Cairo, Michael A. Simpson, Ken Atchity and Chi-Li Wong will produce. Simpson will refine the script.
Diehl’s “Primal Fear” was previously turned into the acclaimed 1996 thriller starring Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Frances McDormand, and an Oscar-nominated turn by a then unknown Edward Norton.
Another novel of his, “Sharky’s Machine”, was previously adapted and a remake is setup at Warner Bros. Pictures with Phil Joanou directing.
