Do you read Sutter Cane?
Though he made several films after, 1995’s “In the Mouth of Madness” was arguably John Carpenter’s last true masterpiece.
A great big tribute to the works of H.P. Lovecraft, the title is now coming home on 4K Ultra HD disc via Arrow Video. To celebrate the release on October 28th, the company has issued a new trailer for the cosmic horror film.
In the film, horror author Sutter Cane (Jurgen Prochnow) is missing. As crowds turn violent waiting for copies of his latest book, Cane’s publisher (Charlton Heston) enlist insurance investigator John Trent (Sam Neill) to find him.
With Cane’s editor, Linda Styles (Julie Carmen), Trent sets off in search of the elusive author and finds himself trapped in Hobb’s End, a town that should only exist within the author’s books.
As fiction and reality blur, Trent begins to realize that between the lines, beyond the page, somewhere out there in the dark, something evil is waiting to break through. Michael De Luca, the current co-chief of Warner Bros. Pictures, penned the script.
The disc version has been restored in 4K from the original 35mm camera negative with Dolby Vision and original lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1 and stereo 2.0 audio options.
Also featured are three commentary tracks, two of which involve Carpenter; multiple interviews with actors, producers and VFX artists; five featutettes, trailer and TV spots.
The new edition also has a double-sided fold-out poster, a bound collector’s book with writings on the movie.
