Three years on from “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and filmmaker Martin McDonagh is set to return, this time bringing along the two stars of easily his best film to date – “In Bruges”.
Searchlight Pictures and Film4 are teaming up for “The Banshees of Inisheer” which will see McDonagh, Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson re-team for the story of two friends who live on a remote Irish isle.
Their relationship is turned upside down when one abruptly ends their friendship after an impasse, which results in alarming circumstances for both. The film is based on the only play of the seven he wrote early in his career that he never staged.
Shooting on the $20 million budgeted feature begins this Summer for a 2021 release. Graham Broadbent, Peter Czernin, and McDonagh are producing.
