Newcomer Iman Vellani has been set to star in Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel” based on the comic-book character. This marks her first major Hollywood production.
The series hails from writer Bisha K. Ali and centers on Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teen based in New Jersey and Marvel Studios’ first onscreen Muslim hero. Along with the series, Kamala Khan will be included in future Marvel films.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon serve as directors on the project. The casting follows that of Tatiana Maslany being set as the lead of Marvel’s She-Hulk series and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury character getting his own series.
