Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger addressed employees at the company in a town hall meeting on Monday morning, his first time doing so since his sudden return a week earlier.

Addressing numerous questions, Iger dismissed talk of Apple potentially buying Disney as “pure speculation”.

He also says that he does not expect Disney to make any significant acquisitions (ala Fox, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Pixar) during his second turn as CEO:

“We have a great set of assets here. Nothing is forever, but I am very, very comfortable with each of the assets that we have.”

He does say the hiring freeze Bob Chapek announced on November 11th will remain in place. He also intends to avoid the political issues that have plagued Disney in the Chapek era:

“I think there’s a misperception here about what politics is. Some of the subjects that have been proven to be controversial as it relates to Disney have been branded political, and I don’t think they are. Do I like the company being embroiled in controversy? Of course not.”

He adds that to the extent that he can quiet things down, he will try to do so. Little of the meeting reportedly touched upon streaming.
