IFC Sets “A Call To Spy” For This Fall

IFC Films has acquired North American rights to Lydia Dean Pilcher’s true story inspired “A Call to Spy” with plans for a Fall release.

The action is set at the onset of WWII when Winston Churchill ordered a new spy agency, the Special Operations Executive, to recruit and train female spies. Their mission: conduct sabotage and build a resistance.

“Castle” actress Stana Katic plays Vera Atkins, SOE’s spymistress who recruits two unusual candidates – the ambitious Virginia Hall (Sarah Megan Thomas) who has a wooden leg, and Muslim pacifist Noor Inayat Khan (Radhika Atpe).

Together, they helped undermine the Nazi regime in France. Atkins also served as the inspiration for the Miss Moneypenny character in Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels. Linus Roache, Rossif Sutherland, Marc Rissmann, Samuel Roukin and Laila Robins co-star.
