British acting veteran Idris Elba, hot of the success of the “Luther” film on Netflix, is set to star in, produce and direct the action-thriller “Infernus” at Millennium Media.
Elba will play Donovan Kamara, a U.N. human rights activist sent to investigate reports of refugees being illegally detained inside a U.S. black site prison.
What should be a simple task turns deadly when the world’s most dangerous inmates break free. Now he must work to safely extricate the refugees, all while going head-to-head with a brilliant criminal mastermind.
Robert Mark penned the script from a story by Tom Boyle. Filming is slated to begin on October 9th in London. Whilst most of the shoot will take place in the UK capital, additional principal photography will take place at TD Akuna Studios in Ghana.
Elba, Jeffrey Greenstein, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger, and Yariv Lerner, Gina Carter and Kris Thykier produce.
This will mark only the second directorial effort of Elba, the first being his 2018 feature “Yardie,” which premiered at Sundance. He’ll next be seen in Apple’s thriller series “Hijack” and alongside John Cena and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in “Heads Of State” for Amazon.
