20th Century Studios is reportedly developing a new adaptation of Alan Moore’s “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” comics which will be a direct-to-Hulu feature.
The original acclaimed first volume of the comic, and the poorly received 2003 film which made some major changes to the story, unfolds in an alternate Victorian Age world.
The story follows a group of famous characters from literature of the period – Allan Quatermain, Captain Nemo, Dorian Gray, Mina Harker, The Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde – as they team on a secret mission.
Stephen Norrington helmed the prior film adaptation which marked actor Sean Connery’s final work for the screen. Various attempts to reboot the property have taken place but none have made it out of develpment.
Justin Haythe (“Revolutionary Road”) will adapt the script whilst Susan Montford and Don Murphy will produce.
