The Film & Television Industry Alliance website has updated its listings over at Production List to indicate that shooting on the third “Deadpool” film will begin on May 1st in Vancouver.
The Shawn Levy-directed film sees Ryan Reynolds reprising his role of the Merc with a Mouth Deadpool who will be joined by Hugh Jackman reprising his role of Wolverine from the “X-Men” films.
This week Jackman teased that he’ll be playing more than one version of Wolverine in the project which is rumored to have a multiverse-spanning story that could offer closure to Marvel’s 20th Century Fox years and introduce Deadpool into the proper Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Speaking with the French outlet La Parisien (via The Playlist) in an interview about his latest film “The Son,” Jackman confirmed the filming of the project this Summer and clearly states “Yes, it will even be a dual role” when asked about his character.
Jackman already played two versions of the character in 2017’s “Logan” with the actor fighting a younger clone of himself called X-24. What the version here could be is not clear.
The comments follow on from Patrick Stewart recently teasing that he was told “to stand by” in regards to his potential involvement in the film which aims to retain the R-rating of the prior entries – a first for the MCU.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are back to pen the script, whilst Levy will helm the film which is currently targeting a November 8th 2024 release.
