Hugh Grant has been cast as the main villain Forge Fletcher in the big-budget feature film adaptation of the popular fantasy role-playing game “Dungeons & Dragons” at Hasbro/eOne and Paramount Pictures.
In addition “IT” and “Uncle Frank” breakout actress Sophia Lillis has also joined the cast in the role of Doric. The pair will star alongside Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Rege-Jean Page in the film.
The project hails from “Game Night” directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley who also wrote the latest version of the script based on a previous draft by Michael Gilio.
It is not known whether the film will be a straight-up fantasy film, set in the world of the game, or incorporate game-playing aspects into the narrative. More than 40 million fans have interacted with or played D&D since it was first published 46 years ago.
Brian Goldne and Jeremy Latcham are producing.
