“House of the Dragon” S2 Battle Being Filmed

HBO

Whilst the actor’s and writer’s strikes have halted production around the globe, a handful of series have been able to continue due to existing agreements such as with UK acting union Equity.

One of the most notable is the second season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” spin-off “House of the Dragon,” which is getting close to completion.

New set photos have emerged today from a fiery location shoot in Bourne Woods, Surrey in the UK and teases a major battle sequence for the series.

Redanian Intelligence posted the photos, and says the shots are for filming on what’s left of the Battle at Rook’s Rest sequence, which takes place in the fourth episode of the upcoming season.

In the books, the battle sees Ser Criston Cole, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard for King Aegon II Targaryen, marching an army to the castle of Rook’s Rest held by Lord Staunton (who is loyal to Rhaenyra). This results in a battle between two forces, with dragon riders on both sides.

The shoot apparently marks the end of location filming on the new season, but there’s still studio filming to go over the coming weeks, with production expected to be complete in about a month. Shooting for the new season began back in April, with the scripts all finished well before the writer’s strike cutoff date.
