Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Eve Best and Sonoya Mizuno have all joined the cast of the “Game of Thrones” prequel spin-off series “House of the Dragon”. All four will take on regular roles.
Toussaint (“Small Axe: Red, White and Blue”) will play Lord Corlys Velaryon (aka The Sea Snake). The most famed nautical adventurer in Westeros and boasting a Valyrian bloodline, he has built House Velaryon into one richer than the Lannisters and with the largest navy in the world.
Best (“Nurse Jackie”) will play Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, Lord Corlys’ wife and a dragon rider. She’s known as ‘The Queen Who Never Was’ because she was passed over for her cousin Viserys because he’s a man.
Ifans (“The Amazing Spider-Man”) plays Ser Otto Hightower, the hand of the king to Vaserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine). Mizuno (“Crazy Rich Asians”) will play Mysaria, the unlikely ally of Vaserys’ brother Prince Daemon (Matt Smith).
The series unfolds three centuries before the events of ‘Thrones’ and tells the story of House Targaryen. This first season is set to run ten episodes.
