Guerrilla Games’ 2017 title “Horizon: Zero Dawn” is reportedly set to get a major remaster for the PlayStation 5.
MP1ST and VGC report that the updated version of the title will feature improved visuals with new character models, lighting and animations that go beyond those in both the PS4 and PC version.
Much like the recent “The Last of Us Part I,” the aim is to bring the older title up to par with the sequel – in this case, this year’s “Horizon: Forbidden West”. The new version will also add accessibility features, graphics modes and quality of life improvements to the gameplay itself.
In addition, one of the reports claims that Guerilla Games is currently working on a “Horizon” multiplayer game for PS5 and PC. Attempts were made to add co-op during the development of both previous titles, but the feature was ultimately saved for a later project which could be either a standalone online spin-off, or the full-fledged third “Horizon” game.
Sony announced in May that it’s working on a TV adaptation of “Horizon” which will be released on Netflix. Steve Blackman (“The Umbrella Academy”) is developing the show.
Re-releases of recent games have become common for PS5 with “Spider-Man Remastered,” “Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut,” “The Last of Us Part I,” and the “Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves” collection all released in recent years with proper new assets and elements designed for the PS5.
