Anthony Hopkins wasn’t present at the 93rd Academy Awards last night to accept his Best Actor win.
Today the famed actor, via his Instagram account, did accept the award from his home in Wales for his work in “The Father”.
Hopkins also used the opportunity to pay tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who was the favorite to win, whilst thanking the Academy and expressing his shock at winning.
It was a classy speech all the way, quite different to the vitriolic reaction on social media to his win over Boseman. A lot of fingers are being pointed at the producers for the shift in the order of awards setting up the expectation of a Boseman win.
The full speech is now available up at Instagram.
