A 90-second single-take video filmed using a drone with precision flying into and around a Minnesota bowling alley has not only gone viral, but has been hailed by numerous filmmakers.
The video, all done in one take with the only thing added in post-production being the audio – no CGI of any kind, is the tenth of around twelve attempts shot over two hours on the night of March 2nd by Rally Studios.
The project was done as an attempt to encourage people to return to bars, restaurants and bowling alleys. The first-person view drone was piloted using VR-style goggles and those involved mapped out the flight path on the day before.
The project caught the attention of several film industry types heaping praise on the work including “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn, “Lord of the Rings” actor Elijah Wood, “Coco” director Lee Unkrich, “Star Wars” VFX artist Todd Vaziri and more.
In fact, Gunn has indicated he wants the creators to join the production crew on the third “Guardians” in London later this year.
Update: Somebody improved on it by making one simple little change:
This is incredible, but the whole time I kept thinking something was missing so I tweaked it slightly. https://t.co/9prgrgjEsx pic.twitter.com/4hnb6QjpQL
