After many years of waiting, “Hollow Knight: Silksong” is finally set to arrive – and soon. The sequel to the 2017 acclaimed title “Hollow Knight” is officially set to go on sale on September 4th.
Team Cherry, the small Australian team behind both games, announced the news Thursday in a trailer and follows six years of near-total silence from the developers.
The lengthy production wasn’t the result of development challenges or obstacles, according to the developers who spoke with Bloomberg.
Instead, they just needed all these years to ensure that the game was exactly the game they wanted to make, to avoid burnout and crunch conditions, and the basic fact that the game they set out to make kept growing:
“It was never stuck or anything. It was always progressing. It’s just the case that we’re a small team, and games take a lot of time. There wasn’t any big controversial moment behind it.”
As of today, the first game has sold 15 million copies – one of the most successful independent video games ever.
