Thanks to the likes of the “Spider-Verse” films and the Insomniac Games, a whole generation now sees the character of Miles Morales as a worthy, and arguably more interesting, successor to Peter Parker as Spider-Man. Audiences also seem fine with the prospect of multiple incarnations of Spider-Man on screen at the same time.
However, The live-action films have been focused solely on Peter Parker through three incarnations. “Spider-Man: No Way Home” served as a fitting end to not just Tom Holland’s trilogy of films but the past twenty years of “Spider-Man” movies and Peter’s journey.
At the end of that film, the template is effectively reset with Holland now out there, alone, serving as Spider-Man. Last week, “Spider-Verse” producer Amy Pascal confirmed that a Miles Morales movie is in the works and a fourth “Spider-Man” with Holland is on the way.
Holland himself has also been out recently promoting his new Apple series “The Crowded Room” and revealed he’s taking a year break from filming anything – not to mention the writer’s strike has stalled any further development on a fourth “Spider-Man” film for now.
In a new interview with Inverse, Holland teased there’s “some stuff going on” with the untitled Spider-Man 4 that he’s excited about, but adds:
“Whether or not it’ll come to fruition, who knows? But right now, it’s looking pretty good, and we’ll just have to wait and see.”
He was also asked about sharing the screen with Miles Morales and it turns out he’s eager to see Miles make that leap:
“I would be honored to bring Miles Morales into the live-action world. How we do that, I don’t know, but given the opportunity, I would jump at it.”
With Miles Morales looking highly likely to come into play in live-action form, the question now stands as to whether the character will make his debut in his own film that Pascal teased, or if he’ll first appear in a fourth “Spider-Man” alongside Holland.
Neither of those projects has a production start date, let alone a release date, at this time.
