Sony Pictures’ plan earlier this year was that actor Tom Holland would shoot the “Uncharted” film adaptation first from mid-March, before segueing directly into working on a third “Spider-Man” film from Marvel Studios.
The aim was to get underway on Spider-Man in the late Summer/early Fall and be done before year’s end so that the studio could then open the films in March and July next year respectively.
When the coronavirus pandemic hit, those plans seemingly went out the window and it wasn’t clear what was happening. Now though, according to Holland himself, everything is back on track but just a bit delayed.
Filming began on “Uncharted” this week and in an appearance on a video posted through Dominic Holland’s Patreon, Holland confirmed that he needs to finish it first before filming “Spider-Man 3” which he hopes to finish filming on by February next year.
Effectively the plan hasn’t changed bar the shoots being pushed back four months each. The film’s release dates have also been delayed understandably with a slower post-productions schedule. As a result “Uncharted” will arrive November next year while “Spider-Man 3” hits in mid-2022.
