Holland, Chalamet Rumored For “Wonka”

Current Spider-Man Tom Holland and “Dune” star Timothee Chalamet have become the first rumored names for the title role in “Wonka,” the upcoming “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” prequel at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Collider broke the report for the film which sees Emmy nominee Simon Rich (“An American Pickle”) writing the script. The story will focus on a young Willy Wonka and his adventures before opening the world’s most famous chocolate factory.

The film, directed by “Paddington” helmer Paul King and produced by David Heyman, is set to debut on March 17th 2023. It will mark the Roald Dahl book’s third live-action adaptation following films in 1971 and 2005 with Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp respectively.

Holland has also hosted a sneak preview (see below) of “Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure,” an upcoming attraction at Disneyland with ties to the Marvel superhero character Holland plays. The ride is a part of the long-awaited Avengers Campus, a new area of the park currently scheduled to open sometime this year.
