Earlier today, just hours after the end of ‘Back To Hogwarts’ day celebrations, “Harry Potter” fans who are also into gaming got a jolt of excitement.
Long-time scooper MyTimeToShineHello revealed on social media that their sources had: “Confirmed that a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is in the works.”
If true, a follow-up to what has been the biggest-selling game of the year isn’t much of a shock. Within two weeks of its February launch on current-gen consoles, the game sold more than 12 million copies.
By the time it first became available on past-gen consoles in early May, the number had gone up to $1 billion and 15 million copies sold. Further sales figures aren’t available after that, but the game is set to also make the jump to Switch on November 15th.
The report follows on from the game’s official Twitter account announcing that a feature-length documentary about developer Avalanche Software’s creation of the game is coming sometime later this year.
Fans are hopeful that said behind-the-scenes documentary will offer an actual official update on the sequel’s status. At the very least, it could offer details on any planned expansion of the current game which has no DLC at present.
“Hogwarts: Legacy” is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
