Hiddleston, Hamill Join Flanagan’s “Chuck”

Get ready for one hell of a dream team as beloved actors Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill are set to star in “The Life of Chuck,” the latest Stephen King film adaptation from celebrated “Doctor Sleep” and “Gerald’s Game” helmer Mike Flanagan.

Flanagan is directing, scripting and producing alongside fellow producer Trevor Macy through their Intrepid Pictures label. The tone is said to be more akin to the more humanist King works like “Stand By Me” and “The Shawshank Redemption”.

The feature is based on the short story of the same name from King’s 2020 anthology “If It Bleeds”.

It follows three separate but linked stories that tell the biography of Charles Krantz in reverse, beginning with his death from a brain tumour at 39 and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.

The script was adapted and completed prior to the WGA strike and has been in the works for several months with Hiddleston set to play the title character and Hamill playing the role of Albie.

Flanagan is also behind numerous acclaimed Netflix series like “Midnight Mass” and “The Haunting of Hill House”. His next effort is “Fall of the House of Usher” which hits Netflix later this year. He’s also working on a lavish series adaptation of King’s “The Dark Tower” for Amazon.
