Hewitt Finally Set For “I Know” Reboot

Sony Pictures

Jennifer Love Hewitt has finally and officially joined the new “I Know What You Did Last Summer” feature.

The actress took to Instagram to announce the news by posting a photo of herself in front of a mirror covered with post-it notes, captioning it that it was “never too late to go back” and adding that “Julie James is returning”.

The post comes just a few days after Hewitt indicated in an interview that she hadn’t officially signed on for the project just yet but it was just a formality at this point.

The big question is, how involved will she be. The film’s cast arrived in Australia in early November to begin filming with a good portion of that early shooting taking place not far from Dark Horizons’ home base in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Reports indicate Hewitt’s former co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. has apparently wrapped his scenes, in fact a good portion of the shoot appears to be completed suggesting Hewitt’s return could be limited in screentime.

The main issue has been the actress has existing commitments to the “9-1-1” TV series and so filming has had to work around that schedule.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson directs the film from a screenplay she co-wrote with Sam Lansky, Jeff Howard, and Leah McKendrick. The new “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is set to arrive in theaters on July 18th.
