Hemsworth Ready For More Thor Films

With “Thor: Love & Thunder” almost upon us, actor Chris Hemsworth is out doing press rounds and is being asked an obvious question – when will he retire from the role?

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson have all left the MCU which makes him one of the longest-serving actors in the mega-franchise alongside Samuel L. Jackson.

Hemsworth himself had previously discussed how he was ready to give up the role after the disappointment of “Thor: The Dark World” until his collaboration with Taika Waititi on the third and fourth films reinvigorated him.

Speaking to Total Film, Hemsworth indicates as long as the role remains interesting he’s happy to keep going for now:

“Each time, if the opportunity comes up and presents itself, I’m just open to whatever creative exploration can happen, thanks to different writers and directors and so on.

But I love playing the character, I really do. It always comes down to: ‘Is this script different to the last one? Are we repeating something?’ And when it becomes too familiar, I think that’s when I’d have to say, ‘Yeah, no, this doesn’t… I think I’ve… I’d like to exit before people tell me to exit.”

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is also quite happy to have more “Thor” films and says there’s plenty more places they can go:

“I know this: there are many, many other Thor stories in the comics that we talk about a lot. And as we watch Chris Hemsworth continue to grow and evolve as a major acting talent, I would be excited to see how he keeps evolving this complex character.”
