Animation veterans Jennifer Coyle (“Harley Quinn,” “Bob’s Burgers”) and Leo Matsuda (“Big Hero 6,” “Abominable”) will helm the animated/live-action hybrid “Hello Kitty” movie at New Line.
Created in 1974 and a merchandising superstar and $6 billion “Hello Kitty” brand has never been adapted for the big screen before. New Line is allowed to use roughly twenty characters from the Sanrio Corporation-owned property, including disgruntled cracked egg Gudetama and the rabbit My Melody.
Lindsey Beer (“Chaos Walking”) penned the screenplay while Beau Flynn (“San Andreas”) will produce.
