Garrett Hedlund (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) and Kelly Macdonald (“Boardwalk Empire”) are in final negotiations to lead the cast of the long-awaited film adaptation of Tim Winton’s Booker Prize-nominated novel “Dirt Music” at Wildgaze Films (“Brooklyn”) and Aquarius Films (“Lion”).
The story charts the illicit romance in a tightly-knit Australian outback community between a fragile woman named Georgie (Macdonald) and a mysterious young poacher (Hedlund). When Georgie’s partner Jim gets wind of the tryst a chase ensues between the two men across the remote and unforgiving terrain.
The role of Jim has yet to be cast. The much in-demand screenwriter Jack Thorne has adapted the screenplay with “Chopper” and “Ned Kelly” director Gregor Jordan to helm which will shoot around Western Australia.
