Robert Duvall, Garret Hedlund, Amy Madigan and Lily Harris have been set to star in “The Ploughmen,” the third directorial effort of actor Ed Harris following “Pollock” and “Appaloosa”.
The story follows the strange friendship that develops in a county jail between a haunted young deputy sheriff (Hedlund) and a notorious and recently incarcerated old murderer (Duvall) that turns both their worlds upside down.
As they talk through the bars of a cell during the overnight shift, the pair find they have much in common and soon the deputy dangerously seeks counsel from the hardened killer.
The film is being penned by Harris and is adapted from Kim Zupan’s 2014 debut novel. Shooting begins early May in Montana and New Mexico.
