HBO has released the official trailer for its upcoming series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty”. The trailer arrives along with the news that a Super Bowl ad for the series, likely a cut-down version of this, will air on Sunday.
Based on the Jeff Pearlman book “Showtime,” the series will follow the rise of the prominent Los Angeles Lakers basketball team during their legendary court takeover of the 1980s.
The massive cast includes John C. Reilly, Quincy Isaiah, Jason Clarke, Adrien Brody, Gaby Hoffmann, Tracy Letts, Jason Segel, Julianne Nicholson, Hadley Robinson, DeVaughn Nixon, Solomon Hughes, Tamera Tomakili, Brett Cullen, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Spencer Garrett, Sarah Ramos, Molly Gordon, Joey Brooks, Delante Desouza, Jimel Atkins, Austin Aaron, Jon Young, Rob Morgan, and Sally Field.
Adam McKay is directing the show’s pilot with Max Borenstein serving as showrunner and co-creator. He’s is joined by co-creator and writer Jim Hecht. Rodney Barnes, Kevin Messick, Jason Shuman, and Scott Stephens also executive produce.
“Winning Time” premieres with weekly episodes starting Sunday, March 6th on HBO.
