Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK is launching three new sound stages, including a state-of-the-art new virtual production facility (ala “The Mandalorian” StageCraft stages).

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon” will be the first to use the new ‘V Stage’ on the lot – giving the crew the ability to shoot in a contained and controlled space that can stand in for multiple environments in one shooting day including imaginary worlds that would be prohibitively expensive to create practically.

HBO content chief Casey Bloys re-affirmed this week that “House of The Dragon” is the ONLY ‘Thrones’ spin-off to be greenlit so far, everything else is in development with decisions to go forward yet to be made.

V Stage becomes one of the largest virtual production stages in Europe, with 24,000 sq. ft. of total space including a 7,100-sq.-ft. wraparound virtual production environment with more than 2,600 LED panels integrated with a state-of-the-art processing system.

There are also an additional 5,544 sq. ft. of LED panels with eight sections that work independently of one another. Virtual stages with LED walls are expected to propagate around the world in the next few years and are presently being utilised at facilities in Los Angeles, London and Sydney.

Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden was the home of the “Harry Potter” franchise and is being used for current and upcoming productions like “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” “The Flash,” “The Batman,” “Mission: Impossible 7,” and “Fantastic Beasts 3”.
