HBO’s “House of the Dragon” and “Industry,” and Max’s “Dune” prequel series “Dune: The Sisterhood,” will continue shooting in the UK and Europe over the Summer despite the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Both the “Game of Thrones” prequel series and “Industry” have a largely British cast working under Equity contracts rather than SAG-AFTRA ones.
Guidance details issued today have informed SAG-AFTRA members working under Equity contracts that they should “continue to report to work.” Both shows will move forward with production as planned.
In addition, the UK has strict anti-trade union laws that don’t allow for members to strike in unity with other counterparts in other countries.
Meanwhile, Max’s “Dune” prequel series will relaunch production in Budapest shortly. It is also an Equity contract production with some from SAG-AFTRA also in the mix.
The series lost director Johan Renck, creator and pilot writer Diane Ademu-John (as co-showrunner) along with actresses Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma.
Olivia Williams and Jodhi May have taken over the roles whilst Anna Foerster replaces Renck as director of multiple episodes. Alison Schapker serves as sole showrunner.
