HBO has confirmed that the upcoming third season of Aaron Sorkin’s cable news-themed drama series “The Newsroom” will be the show’s last.
HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo says “‘The Newsroom’ is classic Aaron Sorkin – smart, riveting and thought-provoking. I’m sure this farewell season will be one to remember.”
Production is slated to begin this spring, with a premiere slated for the Fall.
Critics were never big on the show, and ratings were decent but never of any serious note. The news is a surprise though as it would appear HBO is jettisoning shows left, right and center with “Boardwalk Empire,” “True Blood” and now “The Newsroom” all finishing this year.
