With no relief in sight for the escalating coronavirus pandemic, WarnerMedia Entertainment has decided to push production start dates for both the new seasons of the HBO comedy “Barry” and drama “Succession”.
The two high-profile premium cable shows were in early pre-production which has now been suspended. HBO said in a statement: “We are looking forward to resuming preproduction when it is safe and healthy for everyone working on our shows to do so. Where possible, our writers are continuing to write remotely.”
Two weeks ago, HBO halted production on all series currently filming, including the second seasons of “The Righteous Gemstones” and “Euphoria”.
WarnerMedia has also announced that they are committing more than $100 milllion to give to film & TV crews of productions shuttered by the coronavirus pandemic.
AT&T’s CCO John Stankey said in a statement that the fund is aiming to assist team members of those productions during this time, and as thing evolve “we will continue to evaluate how we can best respond to the challenges we face as an industry as a result of this pandemic.”
