HBO has ordered the coronavirus-themed comedy special “Coastal Elites” starring Issa Rae, Dan Levy, Bette Midler, Sarah Paulson and Kaitlyn Dever.
The group will play characters dealing with the political and societal fallout from the coronavirus pandemic and explores the deeply divided politics of our world at the same time as the universal pursuit of human connection.
Playwright and screenwriter Paul Rudnick penned the special which was filmed and produced entirely in quarantine and will be presented as a series of confessionals from the five main characters. Jay Roach helmed the project which will air sometime in September.
