HBO Max To Hit Apple TV & Devices At Launch

WarnerMedia and Apple have come to an agreement that will see HBO Max coming to both the Apple TV set top box and the Apple TV app on iPhones and iPads in time for the new streaming service’s launch on May 27th.

Under their deal, existing HBO Now customers (and HBO subscribers through Apple TV channels) who are billed through Apple’s App Store will be upgraded automatically to HBO Max at no additional charge. New HBO Max customers will be able to subscribe, for $14.99 per month, using in-app purchasing on Apple devices.

HBO Max will be available as a native app only for the fourth-generation Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. Those with 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV’s have to use AirPlay. HBO Max will also be fully integrated with the Apple TV app and have its own dedicated HBO Max menu.

HBO Max will also be available directly from WarnerMedia, Charter Communications, YouTube TV, and parent company AT&T who will make it free to some customers on high-end service tiers.
