Warner Bros. Discovery and Amazon have come to a new distribution agreement that has seen the return of the HBO Max service to Amazon’s Prime Video Channels from today.
Under a new deal that extends at least through the end of 2024, customers who subscribe to HBO Max through Prime Video Channels (in the U.S.) will automatically be upgraded to the consolidated HBO Max/Discovery+ service launching in the spring.
The return follows HBO Max dropping off Prime Video Channels in September last year after former WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar made it a key goal to force people to use HBO Max as a stand-alone app.
Around 5 million HBO/HBO Max customers had subscribed through Prime Video Channels. Prime members can now sign up again for HBO Max for $14.99 per month through the Prime Video app or at amazon.com/channels/hbomax.
