HBO Max has renewed its award-winning dark comedy “Hacks” for a third season, the order coming less than two weeks after the critically acclaimed comedy ended its second season run.
SPOILERS AHEAD. That second season ended with Jean Smart’s Las Vegas comedian character Deborah Vance firing Hannah Einbinder’s Ava Daniels as her co-writer following a successful stand-up special she backed herself. END SPOILERS.
The second season saw a big jump over the first in ratings with the opening episode debuting 125% above its series premiere.
Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky serve as showrunners on the series which also stars Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Jane Adams, Christopher McDonald, Kaitlin Olson, Paul W. Downs, Poppy Liu, Rose Abdoo and Mark Indelicato.
