HBO Max Pulls “Chappelle’s Show” As Well

HBO Max will join Netflix and, following comedian Dave Chappelle’s request, will remove his iconic comedy series “Chappelle’s Show” from their streaming service.

The WarnerMedia streaming platform says they plan to pull the sketch comedy series from its platform by the end of the month. Once gone, that will leave only the ViacomCBS-owned CBS All Access (soon Paramount+) which will feature the series in its library.

HBO and HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys says in a statement: “We had a conversation with Dave. I won’t get into it, but it’s very clear that it’s a very unique and specific and emotional issue he’s got. So at the end of the year, at the end of this year, December 31, we’re going to honor his request and take the showdown.”

Netflix pulled the series, which ran from 2003 to 2006, from its streaming platform at the end of November in reaction to Chappelle’s Instagram request revealing that he did not get paid for that or any other licensing deal on a streamer.
