Just a few weeks after it launched, WarnerMedia is set to pull over a dozen features based on DC Comics off their HBO Max streaming service.
According to ComicBookMovie.com, many of the titles currently in the DC Films section will be leaving the service on July 1st including “Wonder Woman,” “Suicide Squad,” “Justice League,” “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Catwoman,” “Jonah Hex,” “The Losers,” “Steel,” “Teen Titans Go To The Movies,” “Wonder Woman: Animated Feature” and the four Burton & Schumacher “Batman” films.
In fact they’re pulling so much only a few titles currently on there will be left – “Aquaman,” “Shazam!,” “Supergirl,” “Joker,” “Green Lantern,” HBO’s “Watchmen” and “Doom Patrol”. The removal is said to only be temporary with an HBO Max representative saying: “We have a collection of DC films that will rotate on the platform. We have a new batch coming in July and then another Joker batch coming in August.”
The HBO Max service has been criticised for its interface and lack of 4K and HDR options, but its content has been praised for the most part bar the DC section which was derided for being rather thin on titles. Now it seems that was deliberate, and indeed numerous other high profile Warners titles are leaving the service in July including “The Hobbit” trilogy, “BlacKkKlansman,” “Tropic Thunder,” “Us” and more.
