Hawke, Sarsgaard, Keough Join “Guilty” Remake

Ethan Hawke, Peter Sarsgaard and Riley Keough will join Jake Gyllenhaal in the Netflix remake of the 2018 Danish thriller “The Guilty” which has Antoine Fuqua set to direct from a screenplay by “True Detective” series creator Nic Pizzolatto.

The story unfolds over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center – call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) tries to save a caller in grave danger but soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.

Paul Dano, David Castaneda, Bill Burr, Byron Bowers, Beau Knapp, Adrian Martinez, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Christina Vidal and Edi Patterson co-star.

Like “Locke” and to a lesser extent “Phone Booth,” the original is famous for being a single room set thriller with one actor on screen reacting to voices on a phone line and events happening outside his control. From the size of this cast, it’s likely this remake will stretch beyond that.

Fuqua, Gyllenhaal, Kat Samick and Riva Marker are producing.
