Harvey Weinstein Gets 23 Years In Jail

Harvey Weinstein has reportedly been sentenced to 23 years in a New York State prison on charges of sexual assault and third-degree rape. Weinstein will also be formally registered as a sex offender.

Before the sentencing was delivered, Weinstein delivered what was described as a ‘rambling speech’ which also pushed back at the #MeToo movement saying: “I think men are confused about all of this… this feeling of thousands of men and women who are losing due process, I’m worried about this country.”

Weinstein has been held since last Thursday at Rikers Island and will soon be turned over to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

The sentencing caps off a busy day or two for the case with unsealed court papers which revealed Weinstein at one point said “Jen Aniston should be killed” in an e-mail revolving around a National Enquirer report.

Actor/director Ben Affleck was also cited as one of many industry figures on one of Weinstein’s ‘red flag list’ of people he suspected of talking about Weinstein’s sexual behaviour to the media. Actresses like Annabella Sciorra and Rose McGowan along with producers like Megan Ellison and Jason Blum were also on it.

When it was clear Weinstein was about to be fired, he reportedly sent a string of emails to the likes of Michael Bloomberg, Jeff Bezos, Ted Sarandos and Tim Cook asking for an intervention and letter of support.
