NBC’s high-profile Hannibal Lecter prequel series debuted to a mediocre 1.6 rating and 4% share on Thursday at 10pm. However, that is the highest rating in that timeslot for NBC in over a year.
NBC will repeat the premiere this coming Wednesday, April 10th – briefly taking over from “Chicago Fire” in the less competitive Wednesday 10 PM slot.
Meanwhile, The History Channel has renewed its first scripted drama series “Vikings” for a ten-episode second season. Shooting begins this summer for an early 2014 airing.
“Vikings” debuted in early March to 6.2 million viewers, and has since averaged 5 million viewers an episode – strong numbers for a 10pm Sunday slot. Reviews have also been quite complimentary for the show, which will air its first season finale on April 28th.
