“Hannibal” Creator Wants Zendaya For Starling

“Hannibal” TV series creator Bryan Fuller says his dream project would be to do a new adaptation of Thomas Harris’ novel “The Silence of the Lambs”.

Fuller’s acclaimed series used elements of the novels “Red Dragon,” “Hannibal” and “Hannibal Rising” but famously wasn’t able to include “The Silence of the Lambs” in its adaptation due to rights issues.

The series memorably ended in 2015 after three seasons with both Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) and Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) suffering multiple wounds, embracing and effectively leaping off a cliff together into a churning sea. A post-credits scene involving Gillian Anderson’s character suggests at least Lecter may have survived.

Speaking with Screen Rant while promoting “Dust Bunny” in Toronto, Fuller says he wants to get Mads Mikkelsen back as Dr. Hannibal Lecter and has someone already in mind to play Clarice Starling:

“My dream project is to do a limited series of Silence of the Lambs with Mads and Zendaya as Clarice Starling. If I could put anything out into the universe, I would put that into the universe.”

Jodie Foster, Julianne Moore and Rebecca Breeds have all played the Clarice Starling character in past projects; Foster’s portrayal in the original 1991 “The Silence of the Lambs” film adaptation is by far the most memorable.
