In the realm of comedy specials in recent years, there’s “Hannah Gadsby: Nanette” on Netflix, and then there’s everything else.
The Tasmanian female comedian’s one-hour special was released on the streaming platform in 2018 and became an unexpected global event. Scoring much critical acclaim, the special jumps between moments of quirky humor, serious emotional revelation and dissection of comedy itself.
Today, Gadsby has announced that she will debut her new Netflix comedy special “Douglas” globally on the service in 2020. Gadsby began her U.S. tour of ‘Douglas’, which is named after her beloved dog, on April 30th.
Gadsby says in a statement: “I’m really enjoying touring with the live performance, but there will be places in the world that I won’t be able to visit, so it’s wonderful that Netflix will bring the show to every corner of the globe.”
